I'm always happy to report when new map resources become available for Ireland as I'm definitely a bit of a cartophile! University College Dublin (UCD) have recently released a treasure trove of about 150 large scale town and city maps dating from 1837 under their OSi - 19th Century Historical Maps page. The detail is beautiful with many different types of buildings clearly marked along with water pumps, post-boxes etc. Various different geographical boundaries are also marked including parish, townland and barony borders. Not every county is represented but a quick scroll down the list of town names should furnish you with several locations to happily browse I'm sure.
The bigger towns and cities usually comprise of several sheets so be sure to inspect the index sheet that usually appears first in the list to work out which sheet number you will need to call up next to view the area within the town you are interested in.
I've added the page link to my Irish Maps, Gazetteers and Directories page and of course, added it to my Snacks drawer. Enjoy!
