Irish Civil Geography
Ireland has 4 Provinces - Ulster, Connaught, Leinster and Munster into which the 32 Counties (click on these links to find their names on a map);
The counties are further broken down into Civil Parishes of which there are about 2,500 in total.
Civil Parishes are made up of several Townlands which can vary dramatically in size, from fractions of acres right up to whole mountainsides. There are more than 64,000 of these. Within major town and cities, you are more likely to find the Street referenced in a similar way to townlands in censuses or land records for example.
