The Registry of Deeds
My research has benefitted enormously from records I have found in this archive but it has taken many hours of patient study. Locating and interpreting these old-fashioned documents can be difficult. However, do persevere as you can learn some wonderful things from them with several generations of related families often mentioned together. They will also help you track branches of the family that may have moved to bigger farms or where sons took over from fathers.
