Blogs, Magazines & Forums
Here are links to some of my favourite blogs for keeping up with all the Irish genealogy news and gossip.
There are also some online magazines that could prove useful to your research
There are several forums and message boards which might prove both happy hunting grounds for information posted incidentally about relatives you are seeking or for you to post a query yourself, for which you will probably have to register or be a member of the relevant Society.
- Irish Genealogy News = Claire Santry's topical Irish blog.
- Irish Roots = John Grenham's blog published on his own website.
- Scottish Genes = Chris Paton's virtually daily blog on genealogy news, including Ireland. Email newsletter recommended.
- Ancestor Network = Jim Ryan etc. Commercial genealogy service offering thoughtful blogs and some very niche transcriptions for free.

- Irish Lives Remembered = This e-magazine is now published bi-monthly and often focuses on particular counties at a time.
- History Ireland = Subscription site but with some featured articles for free.

- Rootsweb = Ancestry's worldwide message board with thousands of threads and posts. Be inventive with how you query with keywords to sift out the treasure from the rest. Note, as of March 2020 the functionality on this website has been curtailed and the pages largely archived but they are still accessible. Some threads have relocated to other notice boards and have carried on the discussions - follow any pointers from Rootsweb if there are any.
- IGRS Forum = The Irish Genealogical Research Society has made their Members Forum free to view in a bid to have the queries reach as wide an audience as possible. However, if you want to post a query or reply, you will need to be a member of the Society.
